     It seemed like a rehash of ‘woke’ themes that have dominated the discourse for the last decade, which are increasingly out of fashion.

    A situation or event which is much less impressive than expected

    Example

    What should have been a punchy launch of its new production turned instead into an embarrassing damp squib.

  • Drivel

    Childish, silly, or meaningless talk or thinking; nonsense; twaddle

    Examples 

    Yet again, his answer is full of drivel.

    It’s clearly not drivel — as the poll, the campaigns, the fundraising all show.

    But some of the books I got were pure academic drivel, totally useless, that gave me no guidance or comfort.
